Fund Raiser - Helping a friend with funding for a Wedding!
This post is part of the current Fund Raiser where a friend has given me an offer to buy a collection of Warhammer models, the money will go to putting down deposits for his wedding arrangements.
After that I have two other hobby debts to sort out.
I am collecting funds in the following ways:
- Blogging about Warhammer to earn HBD
- Accepting donations - Can be sent directly to @zakl.hobbyfund in HBD
- Selling some of the collection to friends.
The total remaining is $485!
Every bit counts!
Back to the review.
Hello everyone! Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa and this is a Warhammer 40k - The Great Unit Review Wheel! post!
Now known as the Unit Review Library!
What is it all about? It is not there to just give a stat. It is there to give MY review of the unit!
Also this has become quite the Challenge! With so many units to review in the game the consensus in the hobby community is that I will not have enough time to review all of the Datasheets before the new edition of Warhammer 40,000 came out.
I should have started when 10th edition launched!
604 days since the start of 10th Edition.
This is Review #232, I am 372 reviews behind! (Lowest I have been is 314 behind)
January 2025 we are expecting Astra Militarum and Aeldari codexes as explained Here, so time to focus on THOSE Datasheets!
Astra Militarum,Lord Solar Leontus
10th Edition Index
The Lord Commander Solar is a position held by the top ranking Astra Militarum commander in the entire Solar Segmentum. That is to say - a massive portion of space.
Within that domain must be thousands of worlds which produce Astra Militarum Regiments and they all fall under his command.
This the strategic importance of Leontus is probably far more than what he does on the battlefield.
It is 150pts to field him and it costs $62.50 to buy the model.
Let's check its stats.
Stats
Movement 12"
Toughness 4
Save 3+/4++ (armor/invul/Feel No Pain)
Wounds 8
Ld 6+
OC 2
Weapons
Ranged Weapons
Sol's Righteous Gaze
12" Range, 2 Shots, Hitting on 2+, S8, AP-2 and 2 Damage each.
Pistol (This weapon can be fired while in combat)
Melee Weapons
Conquest (That's his Sword's name)
6 Attacks, Hitting on 2+, S6, AP-2 and 2 Damage each.
Konstantin's hooves
2 Attacks, Hitting on 4+, S4, AP0 and 1 Damage each.
Extra Attacks (This attack can be made along with the other attacks in melee.)
Abilities
The Lord Solar
At the start of the Command Phase, if this unit is on the table, gain 1 CP.
The Collegiate Astrolex
After both armies have finished deploying, select 3 units from your army and redeploy them. You may also put these units into Strategic Reserve.
Supreme Commander - He has to be your Army's Warlord.
Voice of Command - This Officer can issue up to 3 orders a turn. He can issue orders to Regiment and Squadron units too.
Thoughts
Right... physically, the Lord Solar has Toughness and saves like a Space Marine Captain... with 8 Wounds! He has an auto-supercharged plasma pistol for 2 shots with no Hazardous. And finally his sword makes him about as dangerous as 2x Bladeguard.
But like I said, the man himself, though impressive, is not his most valuable feature.
Usually in a 5 turn game, you generate 10 CP in total. Command Points are highly valuable and have the ability to swing the game for you.
With Leontus on the board you get 2 CP in your turn and 1 CP in your opponent's turn. If he survives the game that is 5 extra CP.
Orders are buffs for units. Most officers issue 1 Order a turn and are usually limited. Special Characters like Iron Hand Straken can do two... or you can use an Enhancement to boost a commander to give two.
Leontus can do 3 and those orders can be given to both infantry and tanks. The other leaders are restricted to whom they can order.
150pts? I think he is worth it!
That makes 47 Astra Militarum Datasheets Reviewed putting them on 77% Completed. The total Completed is 25.32% Complete! Can I review them all?!
Thank you for reading!
