What's the true definition of being a singer? This is one question I've been asking myself for a while now, and currently, I believe I've been able to know the answer. I know being a singer comes with a lot of responsibilities, like being able to sing in languages other than the well-known "mother language" Now that is what makes you a true singer: "I've known the answer already."
In this week's contest, the Vibes Web3 music competition brought something unique that would encourage our amazing singers to go outside the box and sing a song in a "second language," and that means something outside of their regular routine. If there is one thing I've come to love about "vibes," it is the fact that it encourages singers to challenge themselves to try new things.
I'm gonna start by applauding all the entries that have been made so far; I'm gonna say every entry was incredible. I can go on and on to talk about all entries, but then, in order not to bore you with too much write-up like I'm writing a fiction story. I'm gonna stick to the particular entry that swept me off my feet and left me at the edge of my seat.
I'm a big fan of Korean music, but then I try to pretend when my friends tell me the truth about myself that I love K-pop. So the particular entry that grabbed my attention this week is @babymoyin's entry. Dream High is one Korean movie I loved. Despite being an old movie, I still have those songs stuck in my head like I listen to them every day.
And @babymoyin did a cover of one of the songs. Watching her entry made me realize how crazy I was with that movie and she brought those memories back to life. I loved the fact that she pronounced every Korean word correctly while singing because the Korean language is one language I find very hard to learn "Maybe others find it easy though".
Her performance was incredible and mind-blowing; I've literally watched her entry thrice because I couldn't get my mind off it. Her facial expression from the beginning to the end was what even made the performance extraordinary. She sang the song like she owned it, and that is what every singer does, right? I loved her entry.
