This is a fun story I came across on the news sites I follow. It was reported about a week ago and went somewhat viral so you may have stumbled upon it already.
So, there's this french farmer called Michel Dupont who recently discovered a literal jack pot in his land. A gold deposit reportedly worth of over 4 fucking billion usd! Holy molly!
He first noticed something peculiar while walking along a stream on his land and saw a a glimmer in the waters. Then he started digging and uncovered numerous gold fragments.
Like a good citizen he informed the government and that's where he got fucked. Majorly.
You see, under french law, the land is his but what below the surface... isn't lol. That's government property. His "finder's fee" is only something like 0.5 %. But that's not the only problem.
There are also environmental laws and regulations and shit to take care before starting any mining.
So yeah. Imagine discovering a literal infinite money glitch right below your feet and then losing it.
All he had to do was keep his mouth shut and take a few nuggets here and there and he would never had to financially worry again. Or his descendants generations after his death 😆
