Namaste 🙏
Hope you all are doing great!!!
It is my day, two of visiting Nepal, and I was really happy already. I still had many days of my trip left in which I am gonna explore Nepal in full depth, but on my second day, we were going to explore Janakpur the city of Sita Mata. It was a really beautiful city with lots and lots of lakes all around it, and apart from that there were many temples situated here too.
In this blog, I’m going to explore two of such temples called Janak Mandir and Ma Raj Devi Mandir. We would be exploring about 3 to 4 more places apart from those places after which we would then go back to the Janakpur airport from where we would take our flight from Janakpur to Kathmandu to start our new chapter in Nepal trip.
Janak Mandir -
As soon as we woke up at around 7 AM, it was time for us to have breakfast as we were already late from yesterday. Today we had to cover a lot of things in a very short time to compensate yesterday’s lag. So after having a breakfast we asked our guides to arrange some other means of transportation as yesterday because of the bus we were very late.
They also understood that, and they arranged Tuk Tuk for us. They were about 30 to 40 Tuk Tuk in line in front of our hotels. When we asked for them, it was a really pleasant sight, but I was unable to capture photograph of it as I was busy to capture Tuk Tuk for myself and my grandparents.
After waiting for about 5 to 10 minutes, we started our journey to the Janak Temple. Our main destination for today was Janki Temple, which was scheduled after two more destinations. Everyone was excited to visit Janaki Temple as it’s the main attraction, but our Tuk Tuk Walla had planned something for us.
He wanted to take us to all the small and significant places which are not that popular, but are really significant. So the first place we visit was Janak Temple. It is believed that Raja Jhanak used to live here in his last days.
It is believed that after giving up on all the wealth and all the luxurious lifestyle, Rajesh Janak used to live in this little hut and used to spend his days in peace.
It was a really small and intimate kind of place about which not a lot of people knew about. I was really happy that I was able to visit this place. This place had really unique vibe that is one of a kind.
As already mentioned that I tried to capture one took took very fast as I wanted to explore more, so our took took was way ahead of all the other others in our group. So after visiting this temple, we were one of the first ones to get out and sit in the Tuk Tuk.
Because of this, we also got some spare time to roam around in the market area as others were still in the line to visit the temples that we were visiting and they were also getting rowdy lines, which really took them along time to get inside of the temple.
As we were out of the temple earlier so it was a really great opportunity for us to explore the nearby market. We had fun exploring the market and the first thing that we noticed was a shop selling white coloured clothes.
At first, I wondered why everyone would buy something like this but later I realised that it was Holi in Nepal Holi celebrated one day later in Nepal as compared to India, so it was a new thing that I learnt that day.
After exploring the market, it was time for us to get back on the Tuk Tuk and explore the next Mandir that was scheduled.
Shree Raj Devi Mandir—
This temple held a really big kind of significance in the history of Mithila. This temple is the temple of the Royal goddess or The Raj Devi. She was Kuldevi of Raza Janak, and it is believed that this temple was built in respect of that.
The entry gate of the temple was really beautiful as you can see in the photographs below. It was so beautiful that people were standing in front of it to capture their photographs. We even shoot there to capture some photographs that came out to be really nice and we had a good fun doing that.
This was indeed a big temple as compared to the previous one that we visited. This was also very crowded as compared to the previous one that we visited, so we had to stay in queue to visit inside of the temple and do the Darshan.
The inner corridor of the temple was also very narrow because of which it was kind of stagnant crowd that was standing in front and that made it a little bit difficult for everyone to get inside at once, so everyone has to wait.
After waiting for about 10 minutes, it was now our turn to get inside of the temple to do the Darshan. We had a really good darshan of the temple and afterwards we came out of the temple. I made a new friend while on the queue. He was really age old man about 85 years of age. I think he was the oldest person travelling in our group.
He became friend and he also started to travel along with me, my grandparents. We also captured a picture together and I also captured a picture of him with my grandparents. He was really nice old man and I was really inspired from him. He was retired from Navy and his story was very, very inspiring.
That’s all for today.
