Hello everyone! This is my second entry for this week's Splinterlands Social Media Challenge. Today, I'm sharing a battle of mine in Modern Diamond Ranked.
I fought an interesting battle in Modern Diamond ranked. It was a battle against Andy-B, someone I often see with a high rating. They have a lot of Rebellion cards, so it's usually a very difficult match. They have access to the 3 mana dual summoners from Rebellion, which I don't, and this battle had the Silenced Summoners. The Dragon splinter was inactive, so I was at a disadvantage, just from the summoner options.

This game had the following rule sets: Lost Magic, Silenced Summoners, and Fog of War. It was a 46 mana cap game, with Fire, Water, and Death available. I went with Kelya because I considered Water to be the best option for me. I placed Mantaroth in front with Flying Squid in the Reach slot. I followed it up with Clockwork Aide and Venka the Vile. I finished the team with Supply Runner and Swamp Spitter. They picked Zeddica and used Commander Slade as their tank. They followed it up with Venator Kinjo and Venka the Vile. Next, they used Supply Runner and Lira the Dark. The last unit was Merdaali Guardian.
Round 1
They had more speed, so my Mantaroth fell to 0 armor and 7 HP. Venka hit their Slade, but Merdaali Guardian recovered a lot of that damage. Flying Squid missed, and Swamp Spitter hit the armor. It would have been great to hit the 8 damage without any armor. Mantaroth put Slade to 5 HP.
Round 2
Their attacks left Mantaroth at just 1 HP. Supply Runner and Venka missed their attacks. Their Guardian Repaired and Healed Slade. This time, Flying Squid hit and took out the armor, but Swamp Spitter also missed. Mantaroth put Slade to 4. It was a very unlucky round because Venka had lethal damage and if Swamp Spitter hit, Slade would also have been taken out.
Round 3
They finished my Mantaroth, and it was Venka dealing the final blow, so Flying Squid also took the attack. Supply Runner missed once more, but Venka finally killed Slade and also eliminated Kinjo. My attacks put Venka down to 1 HP, but Merdaali undid some of the damage.
Round 4
Lira finished the Squid, but Supply Runner took out their Venka. My own Venka killed their Supply Runner but missed the Trample attack on Lira. However, at this point, it didn't matter because they didn't have any attackers left.
Round 5
Venka finished the game in this round.
This was a very difficult game, against a powerful opponent. I was able to overcome the disadvantage of spending one extra mana on my summoner and also having access to just Water, while they had Water and Death. They used Commander Slade and as much speed as they could get, with 3 modifiers. Merdaali provided Tank Heal and Repair, and Venka was another powerful attacker. Fog of War ensured all attacks would go on Slade, unless my units had Scattershot. Mantaroth's True Strike helped a lot, and I also had 2 speed modifiers, which made their strategy less efficient. There was a lot of RNG involved, and it could have gone either way. I'm glad I was able to take this one from Andy-B, since it doesn't happen too often.
What do you all think about this game? Would you have done anything different? Let me know in the comments! Thank you for reading!!
