Well, I gave it some thought… and then I jumped in.
Despite my earlier hesitation around expanding my card collection, I officially participated in the Conclave Archana Presale as soon as it went live. As someone deeply immersed in the Splinterlands ecosystem, this decision wasn’t made lightly. For months, my focus has been squarely on optimizing my land holdings, especially with all the recent updates showing that land progression is quickly becoming just as critical as your collection for long-term sustainability and value creation.
But let’s be honest—the Presale perks were just too compelling to pass up.
The real hook for me? The Promo cards and raffle rewards. Splinterlands has done a solid job of gamifying these presales in a way that tugs on both strategic and collector instincts. I had already earmarked enough funds to secure a maxed-out Promo card pair, but the structure of this sale—with raffle chances based on pack purchases—pulled me a little deeper than planned. I found myself adding a bit more, chasing those extra odds and getting swept up by the new foil mechanics and rarity dynamics.
That collector itch never fully goes away.
Even though I’ve stepped away from the idea of “must-own-every-card”—especially with the recent influx of expensive Promo editions—I still believe these new core sets are mission critical for remaining competitive in ranked and tournament gameplay. With Chaos Legion rotating out of Modern, the meta is sure to shift, and I want to be ahead of the curve rather than playing catch-up.
At the same time, I’m keeping my broader ecosystem strategy in mind. Many of those Chaos Legion cards that have served me well will now transition to land utility—farming, crafting, and helping me continue my journey toward becoming a merchant of resources… and now, midnight potions. The tension between land development and collection growth is real, and this Presale forced me to navigate that balance once again.
In the end, I split my allocation and walked away with 120 packs of each pack type—a solid start, especially considering I may still add more before it’s all over.
I’m encouraged by the evolution of Splinterlands through this next chapter. The gameplay is deepening, the economy is diversifying, and while challenges remain, these presales still offer those of us who believe in the long-term vision a reason to get excited.
