Hey, foodies in the hive!
For those hardworking Hivers, I hope you had a
Happy "Labor Day" ❤️
Today I want to share with you my modest celebration on the eve of that special day; my sister, who happens to be my boss at my second job, took me to 212 for dinner. We spent a nice evening.
It's a five minute drive from work. The view of the place is always tempting.
And the street is beating light.
When you enter the parking lot, you can see if it is too crowded and decide if you want to go somewhere else.
The Menu
They have a good menu and affordable prices, comparatively.
Lecheria is an expensive city for the average Venezuelan. Although many commercial establishments have had to improve their offer due to the strong competition in a market of too many restaurants for the few customers who can actually afford eating out or ordering take-out and home delivery on a regular basis, many or most of us still struggle to treat ourselves from time to time.
You will find a good variety of appetizers and main courses very well presented, with meats and seafood, plus some very tasty and handsome cocktails; they also offer desserts and coffee, a pretty good coffee I'm happy to say, which I don't hesitate to order after a meal here, even if I've eaten a lot.
This time, my sister and I ordered the same thing: cartoccio de lomito or tenderloin al cartoccio /tenderloin en papillote or in parchment.
...It comes with a generous serving of linguinne in white sauce, straight from the oven, wrapped in foil, steaming hot. The waiter is always happy to open the parchement for you.
They also serve hamburgers here. They make them with grilled ground sirloin patties, grilled chicken breast, or seasoned fish patties. So far, I haven't tried their fish burgers; I hope I can come back soon, and when I do it, I'll let you know how I liked those ones. I'm sure they're great 😋
They also have sushi rolls and fun Japanese style appetizers. I've tried some of them, and I've been 100% satisfied, but You need to know my sushi wisdom needs some work, haha. Here in Venezuela, sushi rolls have some ingredients that they shouldn't have. I'm sure the Japanese wouldn't approve of or like many of these ingredients, like cream cheese, for example, which I find delicious in sushi rolls 🙈
DRINKS
Oh. I've come here only for their cocktails 😁
But we've been avoiding alcoholic drinks lately, so we ordered spearmint lemonades, which are refreshing and healthier than cocktails--and not always less fun.
Finally,
Coffee and Desserts
Dining at 212 is always a nice experience. If you come here during this hot season, you won't need a jacket.
I usually feel I'm going to freeze here, but not this time. The weather is taking a toll on us, so it's good that I was able to come here after a tiring day running errands in heat.
Its glass walls make the place even wider and one feels very relaxed with the view of the simple but lively cityscape.
The food is always freshly made,
and for some reason, people are usually quiet here, so you can eat and chat in a soothing atmosphere. Sometimes the music is a little louder, when the place is full, or when it's someone's birthday party; those days we'd rather go somewhere else. But today, it was really nice. Quiet. Delicious food.
We enojyed our drinks and food...
The lemonade was frappe with spearmint and little sugar. It was excellent.
It had a good dose of spearmint.
As the waiter unwrapped the cartoccios, OMG, the aroma! The tenderloin medallions were well cooked to full doneness, in a white sauce with bacon and mushrooms; the linguine came with a very tasty and creamy Alfredo sauce. On top, some fresh spring onion and ground paprika. In the steaming steam, a hint of white wine. It was truly a delicious meal. It gives me great pleasure, every time I come here, to see how they maintain the quality of their dishes.
As soon as I saw the size of the meal, I knew we wouldn't be able to finish that.
Their servings are rather big, plus I had to save some space for a late coffee, so I couldn't finish my food and sked the nice waiter to wrap it up.
I had a delicious marroncito...
My boss & sister paid the check...
And we left with a happy heart
and the relaxing feeling you have on the eve of a holiday 🙃
Here, dining out the day before a holiday is common. And on the holiday, people like to go to the beach with the family or visit the grandparents to have a nice time and eat homemade food that everybody helps to prepare. How about you?
What do you usually do before a holiday?

Thank you so much for your visit :)
