MIRANDO EL LLANO

¡Mira cómo vuela el arrendajo!
mientras mariposas planean
dormido el aire que ventea
con dulce silbido canta el Titirijí
y la Paraulata con su trinar
deja en la sabana casi dormida
una despedida con olor a vida.
El extenso paisaje
luce su vestido de sol vespertino
más allá de un horizonte
como un embeleso plasmado
entre largos caminos
que lleva sobre sus hombros
la tarde como un adiós
que se hunde entre los naranjos.
Sabana inmensa que llora
sabana de historias cantadas
cuando el ordeño llama
y los campos florecen
entre las espigas doradas
como húmeda maleza
que da un pincel de hermosura
para la vida.

Look how the jay flies!
while butterflies hover
asleep, the breeze blows
with a sweet whistle, the Titirijí sings
and the Paraulata with its trill
leaves on the almost sleeping savannah
a farewell with the scent of life.
The vast landscape
shows off its dress of evening sun
beyond a horizon
like a rapture captured
among long roads
that carries on its shoulders
the afternoon like a goodbye
that sinks among the orange trees.
Immense savannah that weeps
savannah of sung stories
when the milking calls
and the fields bloom
among the golden ears of corn
like damp weeds
that give a brush of beauty
for life.
