This is truly a personal blog post tonight...

If you don't really care about my life, this will be pretty much the most boring 5 minutes of your life if you choose to read this. But for me, I had quite a reflection of sorts on my latest trip around Western Canada.

I made a decision back in 1999....Which looking back those 26 years, has changed my entire life. One life decision, changed the direction of pretty much everything. In 1999, music was my life. I was writing for a popular music magazine in Toronto, knee deep in the music industry, and making about....0 dollars a day LOL. Starving artist is what we call it.

That decision came from me and my friend deciding we would drive 30 hours west from Toronto, to Saskatoon Saskatchewan. And the reason? A girl and her friends. My friend and I were single, no responsibilities, so we got enough money for gas and started the long drive west.

It took us a few days but that decision, changed everything. The girl ended up being my oldest kids mother, and while we didn't work out, I made the decision after she was pregnant to move out west to be around my son.

Leaving everything I knew, I started a life in Saskatoon and lived there for the first 5 years of my son's life. His mom ended up meeting a guy from Edmonton, and they got engaged. So she moved to Edmonton, and guess where I moved to be near my son.....Edmonton.

Fast forward to 2012-ish and I'm living in Edmonton, living the single life. And I ended up meeting my future wife and the mother of my two younger sons.

One decision....A butterfly effect of sorts?

I ended up changing up my life completely for a girl, and we never worked out. But ended up with a son. So for the next decade or so, I told her I would be in the city she would be in so I could be around my son. And as crazy as that might sound, it all worked out!

She met her husband, and I met the love of my life and married my wife in 2015.

But looking back, tonight specifically because I'm currently in Saskatoon for work. Memories just started flowing back. And what an adventure it's been.

While one decision can go either way, sometimes those decision end up changing your life completely. That decision, a couple of 20 year old friends deciding to drive across a country to hang out with some girls was.....A pretty smart one LOL If not foolish at the time.

And as for career choices over these 26 years.....Welp. That's a blog post for another day. I'll bore you with that next week perhaps if you let me ;)
