Hoy en Polonia tuvimos un hermoso día soleado de primavera, además era día libre en el trabajo también por lo que a Paweł y a mí nos pareció perfecto para dar un paseo en carro a un nuevo lugar, visitamos dos pueblos, el primero llamado Lanckorona (que se los mostraré en otro post y que nos tomó 1 hora y 45 minutos en carro en llegar allí desde Sosnowiec) y después de ahí fuimos al pueblo Wadowice (27 minutos nos tomó desde el primer pueblo) y dejenme decirles que Wadowice nos encantó.

Today in Poland we had a beautiful sunny spring day, plus it was a day off from work too so Paweł and I found it perfect to take a drive to a new place, we visited two villages, the first one called Lanckorona (which I will show you in another post and it took us 1 hour and 45 minutes by car to get there from Sosnowiec) and after that we went to Wadowice village (27 minutes it took us from the first village) and let me tell you that Wadowice we loved it.
Por supuesto la idea fue de mi esposo, ya que yo no tenía idea de que existia este pueblo tan lindo en Polonia e importante para los polacos ya que allí nació Karol Wojtyła o como todos lo conocemos el Papa Juan Pablo II, así que claro que es un sitio lleno de mucha historia, por lo que vimos a varios turistas acompañados de guías que les mostraban este hermoso lugar, incluso me sorprendió mucho que un grupo de los que vimos los escuché hablar español por lo que fue genial escuchar un poco a otros hablar mi idioma.
Of course the idea was my husband's, since I had no idea that there was this beautiful town in Poland and important for the Poles since Karol Wojtyła was born there or as we all know him Pope John Paul II, so of course it is a place full of history, so we saw several tourists accompanied by guides who showed them this beautiful place, even I was very surprised that a group of those we saw I heard them speak Spanish so it was great to hear a little others speak my language.
Ah olvidé decirles que hay un estacionamiento gratuito en Wadowice y este está muy cerca del centro histórico por lo que fuimos caminando desde el parqueadero hasta allí. Wadowice es un pueblo muy hermoso, tranquilo, pequeño y perfecto para visitar en familia, a Olivia le encantó y disfrutó mucho ahí viendo las palomas y la fuente en la plaza Juan Pablo II, fue lindo verla corriendo hasta la fuente y gritar "agua agua" mientras mi esposo y yo la veíamos y también disfrutabamos de los famosos pasteles de crema o tartas de hojaldre rellenas de crema que son muy conocidos allí y es que según eran los favoritos del Papa Juan Pablo II.
Oh I forgot to tell you that there is a free parking in Wadowice and it is very close to the historical center so we walked from the parking lot to there. Wadowice is a very beautiful town, quiet, small and perfect to visit with the family, Olivia loved it and enjoyed a lot there watching the pigeons and the fountain in the John Paul II square, it was nice to see her running to the fountain and shouting "water water water" while my husband and I watched it and also enjoyed the famous cream cakes or cream filled puff pastries that are very well known there and according to them they were Pope John Paul II's favorite.
Ahora bien, Wadowice no es solo conocido por estos deliciosos postres (que por cierto recomiendo probar, incluso si van en grupos grandes pueden aprovechar la promoción de 4+1 gratis), también allí se encuentra la hermosa Basílica de la Presentación de la Santísima Virgen María, a la cual no entramos pero observamos el templo desde afuera y como ven tiene una foto del Papa Juan Pablo II, y es fue allí donde el Papa fue bautizado, hizo la primera comunión y también la confirmación, y al lado de esta hay un monumento también a Juan Pablo II acompañado de flores y con el cual muchos turistas se hacen fotos.
Now, Wadowice is not only known for these delicious desserts (which by the way I recommend to try, even if you go in large groups you can take advantage of the promotion of 4+1 free), also there is the beautiful Basilica of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which we did not enter but we observed the temple from outside and as you can see it has a picture of Pope John Paul II, and it was there where the Pope was baptized, made his first communion and also the confirmation, and next to this there is also a monument to John Paul II accompanied by flowers and with which many tourists take pictures.
En el centro histórico también se encuentra la Casa Museo de Juan Pablo II, ubicada justo al lado de la Basílica y donde podras descubrir mucho de la vida de Juan Pablo II, no se si este estaba cerrado o no ya que nosotros no teníamos planes de entrar aunque hubiese sido genial conocer un poco más de la vida del famoso Papa y si deseas recorrer Wadowice sin caminar, al frente del museo había un tren que hace recorrido a los turistas por todo el pueblo y sus alrededores lo que me parece una forma genial de visitar este pueblo mientras te relajas.
In the historical center there is also the John Paul II House Museum, located right next to the Basilica and where you can discover much of the life of John Paul II, I do not know if this was closed or not as we had no plans to enter although it would have been great to know a little more about the life of the famous Pope and if you want to visit Wadowice without walking, in front of the museum there was a train that takes tourists around the town and its surroundings which I think is a great way to visit this town while you relax.
De todas formas en Wadowice hay muchas bancas para relajarte, pastelerias y árboles que refrescan el lugar, como ven mi esposo y yo nos relajamos en la plaza mientras estabamos en un restaurante al frente de la fuente, allí nos sentamos en unas sillas playeras mientras comimos los postres de crema y ordenamos unas papas para Olivia que por cierto ella se disfrutó mucho, además yo decidí tomar una deliciosa cerveza fría. Sin duda la pasamos muy bien allí, y si estan en Polonia y les parece interesante conocer sobre la vida de Juan Pablo II les recomiendo conocer este lugar que estoy segura que les va a encantar.
Anyway in Wadowice there are many benches to relax, pastry shops and trees that refresh the place, as you can see my husband and I relaxed in the square while we were in a restaurant in front of the fountain, there we sat on some beach chairs while we ate the cream desserts and ordered some potatoes for Olivia that by the way she enjoyed a lot, plus I decided to have a delicious cold beer. We certainly had a great time there, and if you are in Poland and you find it interesting to learn about the life of John Paul II I recommend you to visit this place that I am sure you will love.
