Experience the classic taste of a Philly cheesesteak sandwich with a twist, featuring perfectly seasoned shaved beef, sautéed mushrooms, onions, and peppers, all nestled in grilled panini bread. This indulgent meal is great for lunch or dinner and will be a hit with the whole family.

Ingredients

🥩 1 lb shaved beef
🍄 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
🧅 1 large onion, thinly sliced
🌶️ 1 large bell pepper, thinly sliced
🧀 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
🧄 1 teaspoon garlic powder
🧂 1 teaspoon salt, divided
🌶️ 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
🌶️ 1/4 teaspoon paprika
🌶️ 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
🫒 2 tablespoons olive oil
🥖 4 panini breads or rolls

Instructions

1- Prepare the Skillet:

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until the oil shimmers.

2- Cook the Steak:

  • Add the shaved beef to the hot skillet, separating it as much as possible with a spatula.
  • Season the beef with garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, black pepper, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
  • Cook the steak for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently, until it is browned and cooked through.
  • Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside on a plate.

3- Sauté the Vegetables:

  • In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil.
  • Add the onions and mushrooms. Season with the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until they begin to caramelize.
  • Add the sliced bell peppers to the skillet. Continue to cook for another 2–3 minutes until all vegetables are caramelized and tender.

4- Combine and Finish:

  • Return the cooked steak to the skillet with the vegetables. Stir to combine everything evenly.
  • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the mixture. Allow the cheese to melt by covering the skillet and turning off the heat.

5- Assemble the Sandwich:

  • While the cheese melts, lightly grill the panini breads or rolls to your liking.
  • Divide the steak and cheese mixture among the prepared bread slices.

6- Serve and Enjoy:

  • Serve the Philly cheesesteak sandwiches hot, optionally with favorite sides like fries or a fresh salad.
