Hello, Hivers. It's Doughnahhh, back with another blog series! Today, I'll gonnang with some health issues recently, and I wanted to share our experience that we've been through. I hope this blog provides you all a comfort or connection to anyone going through a similar situation we've been through. Let's get started and grab you a cup of coffee or tea and join me as I share our recent family journey.
My grandfather is currently being rushed to the hospital due to a known condition he has been feeling for a while. He has been suffering some discomfort, particularly in his stomach, and one of the medical professionals at Bogo referred us to Perpetual Soccor Hospital. She wants assurance and helped my grandfather monitor there well so that the hospital will do tests there to determine what is causing him pain because they have all the equipment there to do the test. My family is all worried and hoping that the medical staff can help to determine the specific source of my grandfather's pain so that he can receive the right treatment as soon as possible. It is one of the hard moments for our family right now also, the hospital is expensive, and a lot of tests will be going on her, but we are staying hopeful.
I was at work when I suddenly received a message from my sister saying that our grandfather was being rushed to the hospital due to a medical condition he’s been suffering from for a while. She mentioned that only our aunt and our grandfather were at the ambulance going to the Perpetual Hospital on their way there. At the moment I read her message, I was panicking at that time, and worry rushed over me, a mix of emotions I was feeling at that time. I couldn’t focus on anything else, so I was undergoing time at that time because I knew I had to be there. Without any hesitation, I left work and headed straight to the hospital. I didn’t want my aunt to go through the situation alone, and I wanted to be there to offer my presence on our family side. That grandfather of ours who rushed to the hospital is my father's parent. and I am our family representative to help with anything that might be needed to attend to our grandfather's hospitalization because my father will follow next, so I am the one who will deliver the message to them at that moment. It was a difficult and emotional moment, but being there for my family felt like the most important thing I could do.
When I had been arrived at the hospital, I immediately called my aunt to ask where they were. My aunt quickly answered my call and responded to me and informed me that they were at the emergency room. She told me that my lolo was still being examined for what's happening to him, and the physicians were still examining what caused his tummy ache and why it was bloated. I could hear the fear in her voice and see it in the eyes of my aunt, and my heartbeat also started racing as I followed her down the hallway. I am very eager to see how my lolo was.
The doctor informed me and my aunt that my grandfather will have a CT scan of his abdomen, which is scheduled for the day before tomorrow. Since we were already in the hospital, our family chose to admit him. He hasn't had an appetite lately and refuses to eat, so the hospital put him on dextrose to provide nutrients and water. That was one of the reasons that we agreed to admit him, so that he could be adequately monitored and could support her rather than spending my grandfather too long in the emergency room. The doctor also told us that my grandfather will need to undergo additional tests and examinations over the next few days after her CT SCAN in order to better grasp his situation.
After the doctor explained everything about my grandfather's health condition, the planned CT scan, and also the necessity for additional observation, our family decided it was best to have him admitted straight away since there are still many procedures to do. So I and my auntie proceeded to the hospital's admissions office or the admitting and we are compiling all of the necessary paperwork and procedures for his admission to admitting. The method comprised providing medical and personal information, assigning us a room, and confirming consent for treatment.
After everything was settled, we made the required partial payment as part of the hospital's admission procedure so that we could proceed to the ward. This enabled my grandfather to be officially admitted and promptly transported to a proper room where he could be more comfortable to rest and to be properly observed by medical personnel. From there, the nurses began providing him with the care he required, such as delivering dextrose and prepping him for the scheduled CT scan and other testing.
That's it for now, Hivers. To everyone going through an experience like ours, stay strong and keep your head up. Let us not show our patients that we are struggling but rather that we are strong and have our full and unwavering support to make them heal. Let them feel that we are with them every step of the way during their difficult time. Together, we can withstand anything!
